Why Not Use It

Scripture:

24 “Then the servant with the one bag of gold came and said, ‘Sir, I know you are a hard man, harvesting crops you didn’t plant and gathering crops you didn’t cultivate. 25 I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the earth and here it is.’ 26 “But the master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy servant! You think I’m a hard man, do you, harvesting crops I didn’t plant and gathering crops I didn’t cultivate? 27 Well, you should at least have put my money into the bank so I could have some interest. (Matthew 25:24-27 NLT)

This story that Jesus tells is full of different things that we can look at and gain understanding. The man whom Jesus talks about in these few verses shows us so many things that we should not do! First, he misjudged his lord, who gave him the money to invest, and how he would judge him for not taking any risk. Then, he was afraid to do anything, and he was lazy. And he did not have any understanding of just using what he had been given. All of these things have applied to me at one time or another. I don’t want to be afraid, lazy, or without the understanding that God gives gifts to me that He wants me to use and not bury. I want to do better in using my gifts for God.

Thank You, Lord, that You give us gifts in proportion to our abilities. Help me not to waste the gifts that You give me by being lazy, burying them, or being afraid to use them. You are a good God, and I love You. AMEN

Praise Him, all You people of the earth. He loves us with unfailing love, and His faithfulness endures forever. Thank You, Father. Psalm 117
