Under Authority

Scripture: 6 So Jesus accompanied them. When they approached the Centurion’s home, the Centurion sent out some friends to bring a message to Jesus. Message of the Centurion: “I am not worthy to have You come under my roof. 7 That’s why I sent others with my request. Just say the word, and that will be enough to heal my servant. 8 I understand how authority works, being under authority myself and having soldiers under my authority. I command to one, “Go,” and he goes. I say to another, “Come,” and he comes. I say to my slave, “Do this,” and he obeys me.” 9 Jesus was deeply impressed when He heard this. He turned to the crowd that followed Him. Jesus: “Listen, everyone. This outsider, this Roman, has more faith than I have found even among our own Jewish people.” (Luke 7:6-9 The Voice) Faith can be shown in many different ways. It is our faith that the Lord responds to, not the many words we may say. I have always been impressed with this story. The Centurion loved his slave, and just wanted to see him healed. And he had heard about Jesus, and that He would be able to do the healing. He was not interested in the show of Jesus coming to his home; only in seeing his servant healed. Faith, however it is shown is what the Lord wants to see from us. Father God, I want to have more faith. I want to understand more, and to act with faith. You have shown Yourself so very faithful in my life. Thank You. AMEN Lord, You want my true thanks to You. My giving thanks to You is a sacrifice that truly honors You. Psalm 50
