Show The Faithful

Scripture: 11 So go out and insist on these things. Teach them. 12 Don’t let anyone belittle you because you are young. Instead, show the faithful, young and old, an example of how to live: set the standard for how to talk, act, love, and be faithful and pure. 13 Until I get there, make sure to devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, and to teaching. 14 Don’t neglect the gift that was given to you through the prophecy spoken when the company of the elders laid their hands on you. 15 Cultivate all these practices; live by them so that all will see how you are advancing and growing. 16 Take care of yourself, concentrate on your teaching, and stick with these things. If you do, then you will be effective in bringing salvation to yourself and all who hear you. (1 Timothy 4:11-16 The Voice) Paul is telling his spiritual son, Timothy, basically to “walk the talk”. “Show the faithful, young and old, an example of how to live: set the standard for how to talk, act, love, and be faithful and pure.” It is clear that Paul trusted and believed in Timothy, and his ability to lead. It is a serious responsibility though to be given the role of a leader of the faithful. Paul was encouraging Timothy to do what he had been tasked to do, and to do it as an example that others could follow. Father, each day help me think about how to talk, act, love, and continue to be faithful and pure. I know that we are examples; help me to be the right kind of example. AMEN Yes, Lord, I will sing to You as long as I live and praise You always. May You be pleased as I think about You and all that You have done. Psalm 104
