Seen And Heard
Scripture:
13 The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men who had had no special training. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus. 14 But since the man who had been healed was standing right there among them, the council had nothing to say. 15 So they sent Peter and John out of the council chamber and conferred among themselves. (Acts 4:13-15 NLT)
19 But Peter and John replied, “Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than him? 20 We cannot stop telling about the wonderful things we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:19-20 NLT)
There are some interesting observations that the council members made about Peter and John. They saw that they were ordinary men with no special training, that they were men who had been with Jesus, and that they had healed a man. What were they going to do with what they observed about Peter and John? They were well aware that they had just healed a man, and that everyone in Jerusalem knew about it. So what they told Peter and John was not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. How silly that was! Peter and John just simply said, “We will continue to tell about what we have seen and heard”. If I have been with Jesus (and I have), then I need to continue to tell about all that I have seen and heard.
You have unfailing love for me, Jesus, and I want to have faithfulness to You and all that You are. For the rest of my life, I want to continue to tell of all that I have seen and heard. I love You and love all Your ways. AMEN
I will give You thanks, O God, because You are near. I will always tell what You have done and sing Your praises. Psalm 75
