Revolution Of Love
Scripture:
9 Pilate turned to them. Pilate: “Why don’t I release to you the King of the Jews?” 10 He knew that the chief priests had delivered Jesus because they were threatened by Him , not because Jesus was a criminal . 11 But priests moved among the crowd and persuaded them to call for Barabbas instead. Pilate: 12 “Then what do you want me to do with the King of the Jews?” Crowd: 13 “Crucify Him, crucify Him!” 14 But now he called to them. Pilate: “Why? What has He done to deserve such a sentence?” Crowd (crying all the louder) : “Crucify Him , crucify Him !” (Mark 15:9-14 The Voice)
This chapter in the book of Mark is the part of the Jesus story that is hard to read, hard to take in the brutality and the thinking of the people that wanted Him dead. Because most of the people did not understand what Jesus was about and/or were threatened by Him, they just thought that if He was out of the picture all would be fine. Jesus was not sent by His Father to start a political battle or revolution. He came to show a revolution of love, and He was willing to die a terrible death so that that revolution could become real to, and through, those of us who believe.
Thank You, Father, that it is still a revolution of love. Help me to be a part of that revolution to those around me, to those I might influence, and in places where I can serve. AMEN
I thirst for You, Lord, the living God. I know that I can come and stand before You always. I will call on You and praise You. Psalm 42
