Mary Pondered
Scripture:
19 Mary, too, pondered all of these events, treasuring each memory in her heart. (Luke 2:19 The Voice)
50 Neither Mary nor Joseph really understood what He meant by this. 51 Jesus went back to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. His mother continued to store these memories like treasures in her heart. 52 And Jesus kept on growing—in wisdom, in physical stature, in favor with God, and in favor with others. (Luke 2:50-52 The Voice)
Mary was probably quite young when she gave birth to Jesus, the promised One. And so many events took place following His birth. But she pondered and treasured the memories of these events. I wonder what it must have been like for Mary, and Joseph, to watch as Jesus grew as a child? How was He different from the other children?
At twelve years old, Jesus took a step toward His destiny, and His parents had a hard time understanding. But Mary “continued to store these memories like treasures in her heart.”
Sometimes we have incidents and events in our lives that help to guide us to the place God wants us to be. We need to ponder, to keep track of these and let God use them in our lives. Sometimes just remembering helps us to take the next steps as needed.
Father, thank You for all of Your guidance as You have led us from one place to the next, from one adventure to the next. You continue to lead and guide and we are so grateful. AMEN
Praise the Lord! I know the greatness of the Lord – that our Lord is greater than any other god. Praise the name of the Lord! Psalm 135
