His Brothers Were There

Scripture: 12 The disciples left the Mount of Olives and returned to Jerusalem, less than a mile away. 13-14 Arriving there, they went into a large second-floor room to pray. Those present were Peter, John, Jacob, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, Jacob (the son of Alpheus), Simon (the zealot), Judas (the son of Jacob), and a number of women, including Mary, Jesus’ mother. His brothers were there as well. All of them were united in prayer, gripped with one passion, interceding night and day. (Acts 1:12-14 The Passion) And His brothers were there as well (and His mother, Mary). I have often wondered what the growing up years was like for Jesus and His siblings. He would have, of course, been the oldest. How did Mary keep the thoughts of who He was in her heart and care for the others? Lots of questions, really. But here we see that the brothers and His mother were in the room with the other disciples united in prayer; gripped with one passion. They had obviously come to a place of believing in who He was. Father, I do often wonder about the family life of Jesus as He was growing up, but here we see that His brothers believed. That is good enough for me. AMEN What a privilege to worship You, my Lord and my God! You are my creator and I belong to You. I am able to come right into Your presence with thanksgiving and bless Your beautiful name! Psalm 100
