Hear And Do
Scripture:
11 God has no favorites. 12 If one lives life without knowledge of the law —the teachings of the Torah— he will sin and die apart from the law. If someone else lives life under the law, his sin will be judged by what the law teaches. 13 Here’s my point: just because a person hears the law read or recited does not mean he is right before the one True God; it is following the law that makes one right, not just hearing it. (Romans 2:11-13 The Voice)
Jesus taught us much about hearing the Word, and then doing it.
On the other hand, if you hear My teachings but don’t put them into practice, you’ll be like the careless builder who didn’t bother to build a foundation under his house. The floodwaters barely touched that pathetic house, and it crashed in ruins in the mud. (Luke 6:49 The Voice)
28 Jesus: “No, how blessed are those who hear God’s voice and make God’s message their way of life.” (Luke 11:28 The Voice)
And then Paul tells us again here in this portion of scripture from Romans that just hearing the truth is not what makes us right. In other words, just going to church and hearing a good sermon is not enough; we need to listen and let the Holy Spirit talk to us, and then follow up with what we need to do.
Lord, help me to hear and then do. I want to hear Your truth spoken, and then do what the Holy Spirit tells me to do. Thank You once again for this reminder. AMEN
I will praise my God for His mighty works! I will praise my God for His unequaled greatness! Praise the Lord now and always! Psalm 150
