Get People Ready For God

Scripture:

“He’ll drink neither wine nor beer. He’ll be filled with the Holy Spirit from the moment he leaves his mother’s womb. He will turn many sons and daughters of Israel back to their God. He will herald God’s arrival in the style and strength of Elijah, soften the hearts of parents to children, and kindle devout understanding among hardened skeptics—he’ll get the people ready for God.” Luke 1:15-17 (Message)

From even before his birth, John was given one purpose for his life: to get people ready for God. Isn’t that what all of us who are Christ followers should be doing as well?

Is it always easy to help people get ready for God? Is it always easy to understand how we should do that? People we know, and even those we do not know, will notice from the way we live and talk that we are helping to get people ready for God. It is not only for those who preach and teach, but for all of us, to live a life that will help to get people ready for God.

Father God, as we begin another new year; 2017, help me to be more aware that my daily living, and doing, is helping others to get ready for God. Thank You for who You are in my life and my living. AMEN
