Fickle Human Hearts
Scripture:
23 While Jesus was at the Passover Feast, the number of his followers began to grow, and many gave their allegiance to him because of all the miraculous signs they had seen him doing! 24 But Jesus did not yet entrust himself to them, because he knew how fickle human hearts can be. 25 He didn’t need anyone to tell him about human nature, for he fully understood what man was capable of doing. (John 2:23-25 The Passion)
We humans do have fickle hearts, and yet God loved us enough to send His only Son to live as a human so that He would have that understanding. If we don’t keep our hearts focused on God and His ways, we can so easily be led astray. I see people who once seemed totally committed to God, but now have their focus on other things. There is a lot out there in the world that can draw us away from God. It is up to us to not let our fickle hearts lead us the wrong way.
Father, help me to have whole-hearted devotion to You and Your ways. I know that my heart is fickle as well, but my desire is to stay true to You and Your ways. AMEN
My God, keep me safe. I will run for dear life to You, my safe place. You are my Maker, my Mediator, and my Master. Any good thing in me has come from You. Psalm 16
