Faith Made Complete
Scripture:
21 Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was declared right with God because of what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see, he was trusting God so much that he was willing to do whatever God told him to do. His faith was made complete by what he did—by his actions. 23 And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, so God declared him to be righteous.” He was even called “the friend of God.” 24 So you see, we are made right with God by what we do, not by faith alone. 25 Rahab the prostitute is another example of this. She was made right with God by her actions—when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road. 26 Just as the body is dead without a spirit, so also faith is dead without good deeds. (James 2:21-26 NLT)
Faith without action is dead; just words. If we really do have faith, we will put action to that faith. The amazing faith of Abraham is such an example for us! He was willing to listen to God, and then to follow through, with an action that made his faith complete. Rahab believed there was a God that saved His people, but her faith was made complete by acting on that belief, and saving the spies. Do I act on my faith? Not always. When I do, God is always so very faithful! So many times it is simple things that He asks me to do to complete my faith. I need to/want to do better and better. I want to be right with God.
Thank You God, that You are so faithful to me! Forgive me when I fail to put action to my faith. You are God, and I love You. AMEN
Father, because You are my God, I can, and will, praise Your wonderful name. I know Your greatness, and Your goodness to those who serve You. Psalm 135
