Each Person’s Assignment
17 May all believers continue to live the wonderful lives God has called them to live, according to what he assigns for each person, for this is what I teach to believers everywhere. 18 If when you were called to follow Jesus you were circumcised, it would be futile to try to undo the circumcision. And if you were called while yet uncircumcised, there is no need to be circumcised. 19 Your identity before God has nothing to do with circumcision or uncircumcision. What really matters is following God’s commandments. 20 So everyone should continue to live faithful in the situation of life in which they were called to follow Jesus. (1 Corinthians 7:17-20 The Passion)
God is God, and we are not. He is the one who gives us each our assignment. The more we understand that and find our place with contentment, the more we will be able to grow and produce more. When we see others with more than we have in different abilities, it is often easy to get discouraged or disappointed with who we are or where we are. But Paul says here to the Corinthians and to us; continue to live faithful in the situation of life in which they (we) were called to follow Jesus.
Father, continue to help me to more and more understand this and to find rest and contentment in the place You have me. Thank You for Your love and grace. AMEN
Yes, my God, Your mercy-seat love is limitless. Your great faithfulness is infinite and Your righteousness is unmovable. Your judgments are full of wisdom and Your tender care and kindness leaves no one forgotten. Psalm 36
