Don’t Yield To Fear

Scripture: 47 As night fell, the boat was in the middle of the lake and Jesus was alone on land. 48 The wind was against the disciples and he could see that they were straining at the oars, trying to make headway. When it was almost morning, Jesus came to them, walking on the surface of the water, and he started to pass by them. 49-50 When they all saw him walking on the waves, they thought he was ghost and screamed out in terror. But he said to them at once, “Don’t yield to fear. Have courage. It’s really me – I Am!” (Mark 6:47-50 The Passion) Sometimes fear is a very difficult obstacle to get past. I have a fear that I have had to battle against my whole life. Actually, it is a very silly fear, but real to me none the less. What is the antidote for fear? Jesus says that it is courage. I have been able to push this ridiculous fear back more and more as I do put courage into play. Not always easy, but I find it certainly helps. This following scripture is one that my grandson, Jesse, and I use when we are faced with our fears. “Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope.” (Psalm 27:14 The Passion) Thank You, Lord, that when our/my fears show their ugly heads, You are there right beside us/me and that You will not just pass by. You are loving and patient with us/me Your children. AMEN Father, You do lead me in the pathways of Your pleasure just like You promised. You will smooth out Your road in front of me, straight and level so that I will know where to walk. Psalm 5
