Diligently Guard

Scripture: 28 Here are my instructions: diligently guard yourselves, and diligently guard the whole flock over which the Holy Spirit has given you oversight. Shepherd the church of God, this precious church which He made His own through the blood of His own Son. 29 I know that after I’ve gone, dangerous wolves will sneak in among you, savaging the flock. 30 Some of you here today will begin twisting the truth, enticing disciples to go your way, to follow you. 31 You must be on guard, and you must remember my way of life among you. For three years, I have kept on, persistently warning everyone, day and night, with tears. (Acts 20:28-31 The Voice) Paul is talking with the elders of the Ephesian church, and knowing that it is probably the last time he will be with them, he talks pretty straight. He tells them to look at his way of life and follow it. But he also says to diligently guard themselves and the whole flock over which they have oversight. That is so important! It can be so easy to let in wrong thinking, wrong ideas, greed, desire for more recognition. Father God, I want to guard my heart; to keep it open to You and Your ways. Help me with my desire to be what You want me to be, and not to get sidetracked by other voices. I love You. AMEN I know that what you want from me, Lord, is my true thanks. Giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors You. Psalm 50
