Changed Lives

7 John kept preaching to the many crowds who came out to be baptized. You are nothing but the offspring of poisonous snakes, full of deception! Have you been warned to repent before the coming wrath of God? 8 Then turn away from your sins, turn to God, and prove it by a changed life. Don’t think for a moment that it’s enough to simply be the favored descendants of Abraham. That’s not enough to save you. I’m telling you, God could make more sons of Abraham out of stones if he chose to! (Luke 3:7-8 The Passion) John came on the scene to prepare the way for Jesus. He preached repentance – turning away from sin and turning to God for freedom. This changed life (repentance) is the way to opening hearts and attitudes toward God and His ways. And then the things that John goes on to say a changed life should do were the same that the way of Jesus tells us to do. “Give food to the hungry, clothe the poor, and bless the needy.” Father, thank You for showing us the way to a changed life. Help me to each day turn from what closes my heart to You and Your ways and to open my life and heart to You. AMEN I say this again today: May the words of my mouth, my meditation-thoughts, and every movement of my heart be always pure and pleasing, acceptable before your eyes, my only Redeemer, my Protector-God.
