By Faith
Scripture:
1 Faith is the assurance of things you have hoped for, the absolute conviction that there are realities you’ve never seen. 2 It was by faith that our forebears were approved. 3 Through faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God; everything we now see was fashioned from that which is invisible. 4 By faith Abel presented to God a sacrifice more acceptable than his brother Cain’s. By faith Abel learned he was righteous, as God Himself testified by approving his offering. And by faith he still speaks, although his voice was silenced by death. (Hebrews 11:1-4 The Voice)
What is faith? It is more than belief; it is trust, assurance, and firm conviction. I well remember the first time this scripture became a reality for me, and the very real sense of assurance I had to believe. As a fairly new Christian, this was exciting and at the same time a bit scary. Many adventures of faith have followed, and how very glad we are for them! By faith, is how each of the accounts given in this chapter of Hebrews begins. By faith is how we need to live our lives.
Thank You, Father, for the adventures Jim and I and our family have had as we have lived ‘by faith’. You have been so very faithful to us over the years. AMEN
Your unfailing love, O Lord, supports me. When doubts might come, Your comfort gives me renewed hope and cheer. Psalm 94
