Account After Account
Scripture:
15 So we knew what we were getting into as we prepared to ascend the foothills toward Jerusalem. 16 Some of the disciples from Caesarea accompanied us and led us to the home Mnason, a Cypriot and one of the first disciples, with whom we stayed. 17 We continued on to Jerusalem and were welcomed warmly by the brothers there. 18 The next day, we went together to visit James, and all the elders were there with him. 19 Paul greeted them and then reported account after account of what God had done through him among the outsiders. 20 When they heard his story, they praised God. (Acts 21:15-20 The Voice)
Note: Paul is a man of great mystery. This persecutor-turned-preacher seems more like a character from pages of fiction than the instigator of the spread of Christianity. He becomes what he once despised and willingly suffers on behalf of his new Savior. Paul is accused of many things, but he is no fool.
Paul went to Jerusalem against all the efforts of those who loved him to convince him not go. He was aware of what he would face (and as we will see it happened). When he met with James and the elders, he reported about all that God had done through him. There is something that happens when we recall the things that God has done for us, through us. I believe that our faith grows, we receive encouragement to continue on, and to do even more.
Father, account after account is true for our family of the miracles You have done and continue to do. As I think about them, my heart swells with thankfulness and wonder. You are good and I love You. AMEN
Yes, Lord, I will thank You with all my heart. I know how amazing Your deeds are! Because I delight in You I will ponder them. Psalm 111
