A Better System
Scripture:
9 This is an illustration pointing to the present time. For the gifts and sacrifices that the priests offer are not able to cleanse the consciences of the people who bring them. 10 For that old system deals only with food and drink and ritual washing—external regulations that are in effect only until their limitations can be corrected. 11 So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that great, perfect sanctuary in heaven, not made by human hands and not part of this created world. 12 Once for all time he took blood into that Most Holy Place, but not the blood of goats and calves. He took his own blood, and with it he secured our salvation forever. (Hebrews 9:9-12 NLT)
Sometimes I try to picture what it was like under the Old Covenant. There was so much involved, and it was so messy! Worst of all, it never completed what needed to be done. But then Jesus, by his own blood made a way for me to go directly to the Father. How amazing and wonderful is that! If I keep trying to go back to offering sacrifices and gifts, I am saying that all that Jesus did for me did not count. To think that I try to do that from time to time makes me sad. I want to believe totally that Jesus made that way for me; the way of salvation, the way to my Father.
Thank You, Jesus, that You were willing to be my sacrifice, and pay the price for my salvation. Thank You that You made the way to the Father for me. I never want to take that lightly; I want to remember, and to be so grateful! I live with hope and peace because of Jesus. Thank You. I love You. AMEN
Whom have I in heaven but You, my Lord? I desire You more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever. Psalm 73
