In Him Who Is True
Scripture: 1 John 5 TPT
20 And we know that the Son of God has made our understanding come alive so that we can know by experience the One who is true. And we are in him who is true, God’s Son, Jesus Christ—the true God and eternal life! 21 So, little children, guard yourselves from worshiping anything but him. (1 John 5:20-21 TPT)
We know by experience the One who is true. Jesus explained, “I am the Way, I am the Truth, and I am the Life. No one comes next to the Father except through union with me. To know me is to know my Father too. (John 14:6 TPT)
Jesus is not only true, he’s The Truth. And truth is the only way into relationship with Jesus and his Father. By simple faith and the new birth, we are in him who is true! Let us keep his commandments to love, and let us worship him who alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life!
We know about Jesus and his Father by what we have heard from others, by what we have read in the Bible, and be what we have learned from church tradition about God. But it’s through knowing him in relationship that our understanding comes alive and we begin to experience what it is to be the beloved children of the Father and sisters and brothers of his Son Jesus Christ.
We are in him who is true and who is The Truth. That means that as we are more and more drawing our life from his life in us, we are more and more in love with the truth! Lies and deception become more and more alien to the new creation we are in Christ. Dear friends, let us love The Truth, hear The Truth, embrace The Truth, and reject all manner of deception and lies. For Jesus Sake!
Jesus said: For if you embrace the truth, it will release more freedom into your lives.” (John 8:32 TPT)
Paul makes it clear that if we don’t love the truth, God will allow us to embrace deception and lies. …Because they rejected the love of the truth, God sends them a powerful delusion that leads them to believe what is false… (From 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11 TPT)
Prayer:
Father, May your Spirit flood our souls with love of The Truth. For my friends and me, May the Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. In Jesus’ Name!
