He Cares About You
Reading: Isaiah 46-49; 1 Peter 5
6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. (1 Peter 5:6-7 NLT)
Peter was writing to people who were facing persecution for their faith and economic hardship resulting from the persecution. In this part of Chapter Five, he has been addressing the leaders of the church and reminding them to selflessly care for the people in their congregations; to serve them willingly, and to lead them by good example. There’s a lot of pressure on leaders and influencers! They can get weighed down by the cares and concerns of the people they serve – because they really do care!
Sometimes the simplest truths are the most profound. Leaders care about their followers, Dads care about their families, Moms care about their kids – we all carry burdens not just for ourselves, but for those we care about.
It’s good to be reminded that there is someone who is willing to carry burdens for us because he cares about us. God cares about me. God cares about you.
Take a few moments with me and bow in humility and gratitude under the mighty power of God! Gather your worries and cares and lay them before him. He will take your cares and burdens from your shoulders and do with them what only a mighty God and caring Father can do. He’ll do what is best!
What worries and cares do you have today? You can safely give your greatest concerns to your Father, because he cares for you! Take a moment to pray a from-the-heart prayer of releasing your greatest concerns to the God who cares for you the most!
Prayer:
Father, I give you my cares and worries today. What an amazing and simple truth for me in these two little verses, Father! I humble myself under your mighty power and your tender care. I trust you because you are not only the God who sets the stars in place and determines the destiny of nations, you are my Father and you care about me! Now I take a quiet moment and I intentionally bring to focus my worries and cares. Now, in humility and trust, I lay them at your feet. You are the God of mighty power and you are my loving, caring Father. Thank you. I feel better! Amen.
