Bless The People
Bless The People
Reading: Numbers 5-6; Psalm 22; Acts 26
22 Then the Lord said to Moses, 23 “Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing: 24 ‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. 25 May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. 26 May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’ 27 Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.” (Numbers 6:22-27 NLT)
The role of a priest is to represent God to the people and to represent the people to God. Aaron and his sons were to represent God’s gracious goodness to the people by blessing them in God’s name. When God’s representative the priest spoke these words to the people a spiritual transaction took place. The priest spoke blessing, and God confirmed those words with reality in their life experience.
Prayer:
Father, I want to accurately represent your heart to people. I want to speak the words that originate in your heart to people. Help me to check with you before I speak, and weigh my words carefully in the light of your love for people. I ask that my words be words that you can make into a blessing for someone. Amen.
Blessing:
To all who read this devotional, I speak this blessing: May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace. In Jesus’ Name.
• May God bless you and protect you – Provide for and protect you.
• May God smile on you and be gracious to you – Show you his love and acceptance and approval, and give you his grace-gifts.
• May God show you his favor and give you his peace – Peace of mind and heart and God-initiated health, wealth, and prosperity.
I encourage you to take a few moments and prayerfully think through the words of this blessing and how they apply to your life and situation. As God’s Spirit stirs faith in your heart, affirm to him that you receive these blessings and thank him for his love and grace. Now purpose to find opportunity today to pass these blessings on to others!
